Donna Gassett, Canadian-born singer-songwriter and speaker has been in ministry since childhood. Raised in Germany where her parents were missionaries, she began singing with her sisters (the Parschauer Sisters), making recordings in five different languages and traveling throughout Europe, the United States and Canada. Encouraged by the consistent faith-walk of her godly parents, Donna’s own faith became real to her at a young age. She found in her gracious earthly father a model of a loving trustworthy heavenly Father.
Now in her teaching to women the message of grace flows from her own experience of the Father and her growing intimacy with Him. Donna connects easily with audiences with her quick wit and freshness. She deals honestly and sensitively with struggles, pain and disappointment, believing that God’s word is sufficient to meet each need. As songwriter she interweaves music that underlines her practical biblical teaching. After one of Donna’s retreats a woman wrote: “Thank you ever so much for sharing yourself so beautifully and effectively at the conference. You walked right into my heart. God used your messages and tender voice to cause healing in my life to begin.”
Donna is a graduate of Briercrest Bible College in Canada, and Houghton College in New York. She earned a graduate degree (musicology and piano) from Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York.
She and her husband, Bill, founded Crescendo Ministries which has taken them around the country in a ministry of encouragement though speaking and singing for the past 20 years. Donna now serves as director of music and worship at the Chapel in Sandusky, Ohio, a growing church of 1500. She also teaches a weekly neighborhood Bible study.
Recently Donna recorded a CD with her daughter, Sonja. “Broken but Beautiful” contains original music from both mother and daughter that offers hope and healing. Sonja’s “Nora-Jones” voice and “jazzy” stylings combined with the richness of Donna’s voice appeal to a wide audience.
